Cypripedium fasciolatum x acaule

Cypripedium fasciolatum x acaule

As a rule the group of Cypripedium species which only ever make one pair of leaves per shoot, are difficult to cultivate, but do please read on. One of the most beautiful is the tricky N. American Cypripedium acaule with its gorgeous pink flowers and large, open lip.

This has been crossed with the strong growing Chinese fasciolatum, with its huge white lip. This species has more than two leaves per shoot and is very growable.

Although the cross is a wide one (one made between two species rather distantly related) the offspring are perfectly growable and do well in the garde. C. acaule has introduced several characters not found before in garden hybrids especially in its colouring and lip shape with a large opening.

Due to CITES permit costs of approx. £60 per item imposed by the UK Government these are not available for customers in Norway, Switzerland, USA, etc.
