Galanthus elwesii hiemalis Highdown 463

(elwesii monostictus) Galanthus elwesii hiemalis Highdown 463

This is the clone that Sir Frederic Stern called his var. hiemalis “Early Form”. It was passed on under the number "Highdown No. 463" from Highdown in 1978 to the late Michael Hoog and subsequently has been propagated.

This is early-flowering, with us often starting to open its first blooms in December. These are slender and elegant and stand the weather very well. It is probable that this is the same stock also grown by Broadleigh Gardens.

Due to CITES permit costs of approx. £60 per item imposed by the UK Government these are not available for customers in Norway, Switzerland, USA, etc.
